Symmetrical Morph Targets - 3dsmaxSoftware Used: Autodesk 3ds MaxAuthor: Laurent RenaudEmail: loran.renaud@laposte.netURL: http://laurent.renaud.free.fr/IntroductionThere's no way to create standard symmetry for morph targets because morphing uses the vertices Id. After trying many buggy scripts to do that automatically, I found my own way which is much better than scripts because you can go over the symmetrical axes for deformation. It uses standard 3ds Max modifiers (SKINWRAP, MORPHER) the Right Morph Target is EditPoly created, the Left one is generated from the Right.![]() I use SKIN WRAP MODIFIER. Do a morph from the base to the left target, apply standard symmetry and use it to deform another base model. Not clear? Read the following: Method:Create all faces for the Left side deformation. Surprise L Bad L paupi¨¨re inf L paupi¨¨re sup L etc... ![]() I will use "base" and "target" names only to be clear. Names don't affect the result. ---------- copy the base head Clone it and rename "target" add a MORPHER MODIFIER to "base" and load "target" (Bad L for example) ![]() Do a standard Symmetry to base ![]() Select "target" add a SKIN WRAP MODIFIER, add "base" and turn the DEFORMATION ENGINE to FACE DEFORMATION ![]() Select "base" and set the morph level to 100. "target" vertices follow the underlying "base" ones. Select "target" and convert it to Edit mesh. Delete "base". Your right side morph is ok for morphing!!

I want to say "have you got a solution??" sorry ^^
Your method don't work for me (3dsmax 9). I cannot add "base" in the "skin warp" modifier like the others. I you got a solution because your technique seems to bee very good!
thanks a lot Laurent
either in max 9, i cannot add "base" in the skin wrap modfier,...

Hey Laurent Renaud, your method works for me! Thank a lot for sharing!!
your technique doesn't seem to work for Max 7. I cannot add "base" in the "skin warp" modifier. That's a shame!
